In January 2015 Midwest Bankers Insurance Services LLC (MBIS) added a new Regional Sales Manager who will bring his insurance expertise to Minnesota and North Dakota bankers. Adam Dawson joined Bob Kigin and Jeff Otteson in providing top notch financial insurance products to MBA member banks. Adam will serve member banks in Minnesota. Please welcome Adam to MBIS!
Adam, tell us about your background in insurance.
I was born and raised in the southwest metro suburbs of Minnesota. My banking career started in 2000 working the teller line and as a banker. In 2004 I transitioned into insurance and have spent time with bank, and independently owned, agencies helping individuals and businesses better understand their risks from an insurance perspective.
What are some of the insurance trends for banks now as you learn about the industry?
Cyber Liability and Data Breaches are at the front of the news reports today. This is a substantial risk to the industry and coverages should be reviewed very closely to ensure that you have adequate protection. With heavier regulations on the banking industry the insurance coverages are even more important to have scrutinized by a specialist than ever before.
What are your priorities in your first months at MBIS?
I look forward to meeting the great bankers in Minnesota and learning more about the coverages they have in force today, the coverages that are available and providing risk management services for them. Studying the risks the banking industry faces and how to mitigate those risks is paramount.
When you are not at MBIS, what are you up to?
My wife and four boys keep me on my toes playing games, reading stories, and running all over town. From their first steps to their first set of braces there’s not a moment that isn’t interesting. We enjoy taking as many family road trips as we can fit in.
